Rafting – High Verdon Day Trip

The whitewater day programme we offer on the Haut-Verdon includes a first descent of the Fontgaillarde gorges by raft in the morning, followed by a second descent by canoe-raft in the afternoon (after scouting it by raft) to fully enjoy this beautiful route.

Meet at 10:00 at the Adrech campsite, 6 km from St-André-les-Alpes and 30 minutes from Castellane (See access plan)

Participants are welcomed by the ABOARD Rafting guides, then transferred to the starting point.

Collection of equipment and briefing for a raft descent of the Haut-Verdon, from the Roman bridge to the Allons bridge (approx. 14 km and 2h30 navigation).

The guides will provide you with the fundamental basic techniques to get you started with handling this craft.

Then we will navigate the Fontgaillarde gorges. The landscape is very wild in this high valley; the river is hemmed in for most of the descent through the gorges.

The river has a constant current, with rapids (class II, III)See the classification of rapids) continuously, but without any major rapids. A series of twists and turns along the cliffs follow one after the other until we reach the end of the gorges. Along the way, we’ll have the chance to admire a few waterfalls cascading into the river.

The descent ends at the bottom of the gorges, where we will have lunch.

In the afternoon, departure at 14:00 du pont Clos for a canoe-rafting trip.

The guides will explain the technical basics of handling this two-person craft and will accompany you in kayaks to show you the best routes.

The descent immediately becomes sportier than in rafting.
The turns follow one another in the gorges and require concentration and coordination from the team members.

Arrival is at the Allons bridge, where you will find your vehicles.
